The Operating Procedure is the core piece of the documentation hierarchy making up the church’s infrastructure. It’s the step by step “process” for doing just about anything in the church. There should literally be hundreds of operating procedures in any well documented, solid infrastructure.
An operating procedure contains these sections: Purpose, Scope, Responsibility, Definitions, Procedure (starting with a flowchart of the process), and Related Documents. Regardless of the form it takes (Word document, PDF, web post, etc.), these sections must be a part of any “good” operating procedure.
