Jesus Freak

Christ’s Church of the Valley’s newest series – Jesus Freak

Check it out!

Series Context: Christians feeling immense pressure to quit because of social pressure. People thought Christians were Jesus Freaks.

The author of Hebrews writes: “You need to persevere…” (Hebrews 10:36)

Perseverance is from the Greek “Hupomeno” (Hupo – under, Meno – to remain) – “To bear up under difficult circumstances without quitting”

So, we turn this bade of social derision (Jesus Freak) on its head and actually tell people we want them to become Jesus freaks! The series becomes a perseverance, be a bold evangelist, pre-Easter series.

Stage Design: Big Jesus fish on the back wall with “Jesus Freak” overlaid.

Messages:

March 7th – Jesus Freak – Yes, social derision happens, but Christians need to accept it (the badge of being a Jesus freak) and press on. (Hebrews 10:19-25)

March 14th – Freaked Out – What happens to people who get freaked out by the pressure and fall away? (Hebrews 10:26-31)

March 21st – Forever Freaked – Perseverance is driven by the goal of receiving the ultimate prize. (Hebrews 10:32-39)

March 28th – Jesus, Freak – We persevere because we follow the ultimate freak. (Hebrews 11:32-12:3)
