Brian Jones (our Senior Pastor) is writing a book and needs your help. If you are a guy, check this out ...
I need your help.
I am in the process of writing a book to help men work through the key areas in which every guy struggles. I really want this book to be helpful, so I'm emailing my ministry friends to fill out an anonymous 3 question survey. Would you be willing to help me out real fast?
This is for guys only. No questions are personal. All it does is ask you to rank what you think are the top areas in which most men struggle. Also, would be willing to forward the survey link to guys you know inside your church?
On a side note we're going to take the top 4 issues identified in the survey and turn them into a 4-week sermon series in June 09 called "The Man Series." If you want I can share the data I get from the survey as well as the series stuff once it's done.
I don’t know any other way to say it. I’m mighty proud of my wife (Terri Stone) of almost 24 years. She is a pastor on our staff … specifically Associate Director of Adult Ministries. She is a gifted speaker with a passion for teaching people about Jesus. Her responsibilities on our staff basically fall under the heading of “assimilation.” She is responsible for First Impressions (Hospitality, Resource Center, and Ushers), congregational facing forms of communication, including our website (MovieChurch.Com), and all of our assimilation classes (Starting Point, Baptism Class, and Membership Class). She is also responsible for following up with first time guests.
Anyway, she was invited to teach yesterday morning (Mother’s Day) by Craig Casey the Senior Pastor of Princeton Community Church in Pennington, New Jersey. They have one service, and from what I hear she knocked it out of the park. Awesome! Great job Terri!
Terri basically told her story beginning as a new mother at age 18. She told of life’s difficulties and how she found Jesus along the way. Her message ended with a video that our oldest child Gail (almost 30 and the mother of 3) edited shortly after the birth of her youngest, Drew (our 3rd grandchild!). I wasn’t there (on my way to Mexico) but I bet there wasn’t a “dry eye” in the place.
Join us this Sunday, May 11th as we kick off the new series CMT Morality Awards. When you read through the pages of the Apostle Paul’s letter to the church in Corinth (1 Corinthians), you begin to wonder if you’re reading the lyrics to a country song – there’s always someone fighting, drinking, and cheating on somebody else.
After Paul founded this tiny church in the cosmopolitan Greek city of Corinth in 52 a.d., he left to start more churches in other cities. In his absence, the people in this new church began making immoral lifestyle choices. These choices jeopardized the life of the church.
Paul's response was to shoot off 1 Corinthians, challenging church members point by point to change their ways. Their immoral choices were beyond anything we read about anywhere else in New Testament!
Paul essentially awarded them with what could be called the CMT Awards – The Corinthian Moral Troubles Awards. Their crazy lifestyle choices took the prize!
For the next four weeks we’re going to look at these awards and the issues that prompted them. We’re going to do so because, quite honestly, Paul could have just as easily written that letter to any church today, even our own.
